JoAnne Hungate
JoAnne Hinrichs Hungate is an established watercolor, watercolor monotype, and miniature painting artist. Her work includes water media paintings/collage, limited portrait commissions, and recently photographs.
Her work has won several awards and has been shown in Boston, Nantucket, Washington, DC., Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin, Indiana, Idaho, California, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, etc., including the Copley Society of Boston, Cambridge Art Association, Boston Visual Arts Union, Regis College Pastel Show, Massachusetts Bay Community College, Babson College, Boston City Hall, State Capitol, The Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, MA, Midwest Museum of American Art, IN, NW Print Show, U. Mass. Med. School, Elmira College, NY, one person shows, area art association competitions and galleries. Her painting are in collections in many parts of the United States as well as Canada, Japan, Korea, and Australia.
Within the past several years, Hungate’s miniature paintings have been juried into over 30 international miniature exhibits in which she has received several awards. Her watercolor monotypes were selected for three juried Cambridge Art Prize Shows. Her watercolor monotypes have been in ten juried shows at The Copley Society of Boston. She is a designated “Copley Artist” (CA) having been juried into at least five of their artist member shows. One of her monotypes was selected for “Art Boston 91”. In l989 and 1991 Hungate had two exhibits at the Juliani Art Gallery, MA Bay Community College, shared with her two sons, one a photographer and the other a sculptor. Her one person shows include a miniature art show at Cinnabar Gallery, Wellesley, MA., a large works exhibit at Wellesley Village Church gallery, a 53 piece show at the new Wellesley Free Library, five shows at Harvard Community Health Plan facilities, Norembega Retired Community gallery, 2 at Alden Merrell dessert café, two at Babson College, plus a two person show of her water media collages at a gala concert. She has shown numerous miniature works in many national and international juried miniature shows and galleries throughout the US. She has received a Juror’s Choice Award for a monotype and a 2nd place award for a watercolor.
Ms Hungate is a member of several art associations as an artist juried for membership including The National League of American Pen Women (past president), The Copley Society of Boston (past board member), New England Monotype Guild (past board member), The Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington, DC, and the Cambridge Art Association.
